If you have never heard of this form of workout, CrossFit basically revolves around a range of functional movements which build muscle strength. This full-body workout also includes cardio exercises, weightlifting, and core conditioning.

Learn From Our Induction & Foundation Classes
When you join our gym (or ‘box’, as we like to call it) and sign up for an introductory session, we will walk you through the facility and show you how things work. We will then explain the basic movements used in our classes before you start with a mini workout. Don’t worry – it’s not our goal to ‘break’ you on the first session. Instead, we aim to challenge you a little and leave you feeling excited to come back. Then you will attend 6 small group foundation classes where we teach you all the basic movements you’ll get the opportunity to perform in our CrossFit classes.
Seek The Help of a Professional CrossFit Coach
Our CrossFit trainers need to have at least a Level 1 certification before teaching classes at our gym. They also specialize in certain aspects of CrossFit such as gymnastics and weightlifting. Three of our coaches are L2 CrossFit Coaches!
Often, our coaches have other certifications from accredited organizations such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association and United States Weightlifting. We even have a Physical Therapist on our staff! They are well-equipped to guide you and have coached many people in your exact situation so put your trust in your trainer and don’t hesitate to ask questions.
Having a tailor helps keep you motivated and accountable. Starting out this way can help you achieve results faster. Once those first 20 lbs melt off (and believe us, it’s going to happen FAST), you’ll be excited to see how much further you can go.
Don’t Skip the Warm-Ups and Cool Downs
When you first start out at 734 Strength, it is important to pace yourself. Warm-ups keep your blood flowing to the muscles in your body. This will prevent strains and muscle tears which will put you back to square one. These warm ups will also help you build endurance and expand your range of motion.
Cool-downs are equally important as they help decrease post-workout soreness. This can include gentle stretching and massage with a foam roller. Both are necessary to avoid injuries and other complications in your workout.
Progress Your Workouts Gradually
When kicking off CrossFit for weight loss, it may help to start with movements which allow you to perform them in a smaller range of motion. When doing the lifts, don’t rush to the heaviest weights immediately. We have members who start weights training with a PVC pipe. Before too long, even they are amazed at what they have accomplished.
Don’t be discouraged if you struggle to master specific movements in the early days. Our coaches will help you to get there. Have a chat to other members about how they found things in the beginning. You’ll find even the top performers worked their way up from a similar starting point as you did. And after 6 weeks of training we will sit down with you for a goal session to create a road map to your fitness goals!
Complement Your Workout with Proper Diet
When you start working out, you absolutely need the right fuel for the best results. Instead of reaching for processed food items, look for proteins, vegetables, and fruits. Drink lots of water, cut down on the white carbohydrates, salts, and sugars and choose ‘lean’ and ‘fresh’ as much as possible. Before too long, you’ll find you are craving these types of foods instead of junky alternatives. We even have two nutritionist on our staff to assist you in the beginning.
