Strength in numbers.
You’ve heard the phrase before I’m sure. From ancient proverb to the rallying cry behind a championship basketball team, the phrase has been an oft-used term to describe finding a greater strength from joining together rather than remaining alone.
While we were revisiting the logo, one thing we wanted to discover during the process was the heartbeat of what 734 Strength is. Over time, both from internal and external conversations, we continually found the same two threads: the community and the coaching. The recent survey we conducted reiterated these two things as being the cornerstones of what we do best at the box. We heard that you loved the atmosphere, the fist bumps, and the encouragement of your peers paired with purposeful programming, scaled options, and the detailed teaching provided by our knowledgeable coaching staff.
So why are we embracing this newfound “Strength in Numbers” tag line? Three reasons.
- Our literal box name fits this phrase perfectly…as it’s comprised of numbers and the word strength.
- More importantly, we’ve heard, and witnessed, countless times of the community making an individual stronger. From baby showers to going away parties, groups meeting to watch online streams of fellow athletes at lifting meets to traveling together to the CrossFit games, pairing up for team competitions to going to the movies, this community has proven they care about whoever may step through the doors. Are we perfect? No…no relationship is…but we work hard to create a culture that cares not just about your score, PR, or other highlight of the workouts, but wants to know just as much about your life beyond the doors. In some of my weakest moments the past nine months battling health issues, I’ve found the greatest strength from those within the box. Each one of you have strengthened others while finding yourself strengthened by those you’ve been surrounded by. Every fist bump, high five, and sweaty hug draws our worlds a little closer.
- Lastly, we understand that every individual that walks through the doors is looking to strengthen some number in their life. For some, it’s a heavy snatch or a deadlift PR. For others, it’s a 5K time. The list continues for weight loss/gain goals, functional fitness numbers like being able to play with their kid for 30 minutes without being winded, or carrying multiple bags of groceries to the car. Macros…high blood pressure…VO2 max…Dexa Scans. Whatever number you’re looking to strengthen, 734 Strength can help you achieve it. From certified coaches to physical therapists, dietitians to yogis, the only question is…how hard are you willing to work for that number?
In the coming weeks and months, look for us to continue to work hard at reiterating our “strength in numbers” mindset into all we do. We recognize we’re great at certain things, but as any experienced CrossFitter knows, we can’t rely solely on our strengths but must work even harder on our weaknesses. We look forward to strengthening our “weak numbers” and look forward to the help of the community to continue to strengthen us from within. We’re not in this alone…and neither are you.
Together, we’ll be stronger than we ever could be alone…Strength in numbers.
