5 Benefits of Working Out With A Group
Joining a gym is sometimes a hard decision for a lot of us. Whether it be because of lack of motivation or just not knowing what the heck to do once you get to the gym. Group training just may be the trick that helps you get past both of those hurdles.
One of the great things about group training is you can be anywhere within your fitness journey and still get in a great workout. It can help build a strong foundation to begin but can also challenge the most seasoned gym goers.
Now to dig into the benefits a bit more…
Motivation. This is something that a lot of us lack from time to time. But being in a training atmosphere with like minded people can be just what a lot of us need to to build confidence and motivation. You can also feed off of others energy, drive and happiness. Yes, all three are as contagious as a cold. Not only will you get motivated by your coaches or instructors but if you are lucky enough to train alongside people who’ve been training for a while they can also help you a ton.
Structure. Many beginners to fitness have a fear of failure because they just don’t know what exercises to do. But in a group training setting you don’t have to worry about that. Just show up and put you trust in your coach. At 734 Strength we have a structure warm up, strength & skill and metabolic conditioning. The workout is programmed for you and you are led by a coach through the entire hour. Our coaches also provide modifications and scaling options to all members to ensure you are safe but also can get in a great workout at YOUR level.
Accountability. Some facilities (including ours) require members to sign up in advance for specific classes. This will help you show up more than you realize. You’ll have that little thought in the back of your head that you are letting someone down. You also will probably get a text or email if you coach or instructor hasn’t seen you in class for a week. You may also even get a text or call from your a friend wondering where you are. And its because they care about you. They enjoy training alongside you, so if you’re not there they care.
Variety. Our CrossFit classes at 734 are constantly varied. Each day you come to train will be different than the day before. Our program is made so that you can avoid training ruts, but also to challenge your in many different avenues of fitness. Now keep n mind that variety is not the same thing as random. We don’t throw a workout up on the board right before class. A lot goes into our program and we do re test workouts so that we can show improvements in fitness. We also offer more than just CrossFit classes. We have barbell classes, yoga classes, and prehab classes named the missing link.
Fun. There’s really no other way to put it. Group training is more than just a workout, especial at 734 Strength. You’ll have upbeat music playing, coaches helping you, motivated people training next to you, high fives after class and normally some socializing after class is over. This is also the most important benefit. If you’re not having fun and enjoying the workouts then you will likely give up pretty quickly.
